As a captain\, Anthony spent time in charge of many divisions within Metro including Vice/Narcotics\, Northeast Area Command and the Transportation Safety Bureau. He retired after 29 years of service. \nAnthony graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University in Detroit\, Michigan in 1980. In 1987 he graduated with a Master of Arts from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)\, and in 1999 he received his Ph.D. from UNLV. He has also attended the University of Louisville Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course and the FBI National Academy in Quantico\, VA. \nAnthony was elected in 2002 to a four-year term as a regent with the Nevada System of Higher Education and served a second term. As chairman of the Board of Regents\, Anthony led the way in developing a master plan\, system goals and a value statement. \nIn 2009\, Anthony was elected to the Las Vegas City Council\, representing Ward 4\, where he served three terms. He also served as Mayor Pro Tem for 7 of those years. In 2014\, Anthony was appointed to the Board of Commissioners for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). He also served on the board of Goodwill of Southern Nevada\, Founders Academy Charter School\, and St. John Greek Orthodox Church. Anthony received an Exemplary Service Award from Metro Police in 2006 and received an Award of Excellence in 2002 from the Community College of Southern Nevada where he was an adjunct faculty member. \nAnthony was elected as Nevada’s Lieutenant Governor in 2022. \nMarried for 44 years\, the Anthony’s have two daughters who are both graduates of the University of Nevada Reno. She also served as an advisor to Chamberlain University\, Friends of Parkinson’s\, and the American Melanoma Institute. \nBefore joining the City Council\, Seaman served in the Nevada State Legislature\, representing Assembly District 34\, where she was the Southern Majority Whip and Vice Chair of Commerce and Labor. She also served on the Judiciary and Legislative Operations and chaired the HOA Subcommittee. \nShe holds an associate degree in Political Science from the College of Southern Nevada and a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies with a minor in Family Studies from UNLV\, where she was inducted into the Urban Studies Honor Society. \nThroughout her public service\, Seaman has championed lower taxes\, reduced regulations for small businesses\, senior guardianship protections\, human rights\, mental health and addiction issues\, and animal welfare. Her extensive volunteer work has earned recognition from the International Christian Academy\, Friends of Parkinson’s\, Foundation for Recovery\, and Marsy’s Law. \nBefore entering elected office\, Seaman built a successful 26-year career as an entrepreneur\, founding and selling day spas and creating luxury skincare product lines in both California and Nevada. He held a variety of leadership positions and chaired numerous committees\, including Commerce and Labor\, and Transportation. As Speaker of the Assembly in 2011\, John worked with his colleagues in both houses and parties to ensure the state budget was balanced\, while providing additional funding for education and other essential state services. \nIn addition to his legislative service\, John had a 20-year career with the North Las Vegas Fire Department\, working as firefighter\, paramedic\, engineer\, captain\, battalion chief and retiring as an assistant chief in 2011. As assistant chief\, he developed and implemented a comprehensive emergency operations program and managed 220 personnel and a multi-million dollar budget. \nJohn has also served on numerous boards and in many different leadership positions. He was named “Elected Official of the Year” by the American Heart Association and the National Association of Social Workers\, Nevada Chapter. John received a “Top 40 Under 40” award from In Business Las Vegas and was named “Consumer Advocate of the Year” by the Nevada Trial Lawyers. John’s most cherished honor was having his name placed on the Distinguished Service Wall at the Nevada Firefighters Memorial\, joining only 17 other firefighters who have been so honored.
